Ms. Lomax is a native of Crystal Springs, Mississippi. Ms. Lomax attended Crystal Springs High School, where she graduated with high honors. As a recipient of the Chancellor’s Leadership Class Scholarship and the Vice Chancellor’s Housing Scholarship, Ms. Lomax went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a minor in art from the University of Mississippi. After graduating from Ole Miss, Ms. Lomax received the Virgil Hawkins Law Fellowship to attend the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2001.
Ms. Lomax has been in private practice since 2002, focusing primarily on family law and immigration issues. Prior to going into the private sector, Ms. Lomax was a Senior Attorney with the Department of Children and Families, working in the area of juvenile dependency. Ms. Lomax has extensive experience working with children and family services. She has a sincere desire to help families resolve their issues and to improve the lives of children involved in divorce, paternity and dependency cases.
Ms. Lomax has taught Legal Methods at Florida A&M University College of Law and Business Law at Belhaven University. She enjoys using her experience as a practicing attorney to train the lawyers and scholars of the future. Ms. Lomax also worked as a certified mediator in family law cases. Her calm demeanor, reassuring personality, and candid approach to conflict resolution facilitate resolving problems.
Ms. Lomax is active in the community and believes that to whom much is given, much is required. She serves as a Pro Bono teaching attorney and volunteer Guardian ad Litem with the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association. Ms. Lomax teaches bible study and serves on the Redeeming Light Center Church Board of Directors in Eatonville, Florida. Ms. Lomax is a member of the Florida Bar Association; the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida; Orange County Bar Association; the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers; Central Florida Family Law American Inn of Court and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
